Ajeya's been a bleeding heart since she was a little girl, and discovered effective altruism when she was 15. She co-founded the club in Fall 2014 with Oliver, and they taught the first version of the DeCal Spring 2015. Ajeya now runs the club and teaches the DeCal with Rohin. She's thrilled to graduate in 2016 and begin a full-time job at GiveWell.
Rohin is a PhD student studying programming langauges; he's been at Berkeley for six years now and is currently working on making machine learning more accessible to use. He got involved with EAB in Fall 2014 and helped test and plan the original DeCal; he now runs the club and teaches the DeCal with Ajeya.
Oliver Habryka co-founded Effective Altruists of Berkeley in Fall 2014, and helped teach the first version of the DeCal. Last summer, he helped organize the Effective Altruism Global conference. Oliver now works on a bunch of effective altruism related projects, and helps the club out with fundraising and website design.
Akhil is a freshman studying Applied Math. He first heard about effective altruism from the website of a Harry Potter fanfiction, and has been a diehard fan of both ever since. His EA-related interests include Killer AI, animal advocacy, and global climate change. He joined EAB in Fall 2015, and currently manages our social media presence and public events.
Andrew is a freshman double majoring in Environmental Engineering and Planetary Science. He is from Wisconsin and is an avid frisbee golf player. He first heard about Effective Altruism somewhere online and he's been an advocate for its philosophy ever since. He helps out with the club's tabling.
Jens is a senior studying math. He took the DeCal in Spring 2015 and joined the club in the fall. He helps out by holding giving games on Sproul, as well as writing and leading some of our weekly discussions.
Mia is a junior studying philosophy. She took the DeCal in Spring 2015 and has been helping with the club since the fall.
Mukunda's a junior studying Cognitive Science, with a concentration in Computational Modeling. He heard about Effective Altruism from various blogs, and joined the club in Fall 2015. He's particularly interested in cash transfers and climate change.
Stephanie is a sophomore studying economics. She took the first version the DeCal in Spring 2015, and has been helping with the club since fall.
